Singing Lessons Nelson / Workshops
Forget anyone or anything that ever told you you can’t sing – you can!
Private Singing Lessons Nelson
Lessons concentrate on discovering the unique expression of your voice. The standard lesson format is
- physical warm-up
- vocal warm-up
- vocal exercise on specific aspects of technique (breath management, resonance, pitch, dynamics, emotional expression)
- song study (exercises applied in a song)
A one-off initial lesson is recommended. This gives new students a chance to
- see how we work together
- experience the Soundworkz vocal method in action
- identify some key focus points for your ongoing vocal study
- get some pointers on your range, vocal colour and suitable song choices
Individual lessons cost $46 (includes GST) for a 40 minute lesson. Lessons are taught at the Soundworkz studio in Tahunanui, Nelson, New Zealand.
Shared lessons are also available. Enjoy your lesson with a friend or colleague. Paired lessons last for 40 minutes and cost $60.00, including GST. (Costs can be split between the two participants.)
“Having these singing lessons . . , the best money I’ve ever spent.” Rodger, 42, CEO
Barbara Ann teaches the Trinity College London system for those interested in exams.
Workshop Group Singing Lessons
Workshops explore what each unique voice can do and what makes it feel good. All voices contribute so the sum is greater than the parts!
Workshopped singing lessons combine movement and breath work to free the body and loosen you up to just let your voice out!
Courses normally last for 2 hours a session and include:
- introductory exercise and warm up
- body warm up
- games to explore and free-up the voice
- made up songs on themes
- group sing – world music – African clapping songs, Inuit folksongs, Norwegian lullabies, American gospel etc.,
- pop, rock and country favourites.
“Barbara was so expert at working out where everyone was at and finding the thing we could contribute that made us all feel great. What a rush to sing in harmony with others and know we were all playing our part!”
Ben, 29, IT Helpdesk, Singing Workshop Participant
